Politics is not an end, but a means. It is not a product, but a process. It is the art of government. Like other values it has its counterfeits. So much emphasis has been placed upon the false that the significance of the true has been obscured and politics has come to convey the meaning of crafty and cunning selfishness, instead of candid and sincere service.

I agree with this statement because that's how politics has become. It started out a vote to have someone take control over the country but it turned out to be a popularity contest with rivalry and back-stabbing just to win an election. I think the people that run to be president at times forget what they're running for when they constantly talk about their opponent because it's supposed to be like HELLO your trying to be president not bash out your opponent because it makes an even worse problem between the two candidates. The presidential service is supposed to be a professional service and it's very important because its the job of taking control over America. The job of taking over America is super delicate because one mistake could be hazardous to the country and that's why we need a good president. One who will not try to run for president and tell us all these good things then not do what they promise to do. Politics in my mind will never be over because everyone needs a leader especially for America because it's a big country that can't just run on its own.

I agree with this statement because we are constantly changing our views on what is right. These politics are constantly changing their opinions on what is right and we happen to agree with them, even though they are "wrong" but we believe them, thus making us all wrong.

I think what the author is trying to say about politics being a procces and not a product is that there is no end to it. There is never a final solution. There is always something to work on. I think the author says that so many people haven't been comitted to keep their word that it is hard to find the truth in someone because everyone becomes selfish when they have power. Then they start to be concerned about themselves and forget about the things they wer comitted to do.

i feel that this quote shows examples of what politics is looked upom today as a whole. they used to be looked at as a way to smooth out the government and decrease the chaos that can be prevented. but it seem as politics are causing more commotion than getting rid of it. politics are a complicated notion filled w/ drama like a adult highschool . so i'd rather stay away from politics if i dont wana be confused.

i agree with this quote because now the goverment hasnt changed or gotten better but gotten worse. like the candidates that are running for president they are just lieing there way to win. what they dont realise is if they win they are going to have to lead a country and the way they are going, i guess they arnt going to do that because they are concerned about everythings else but leading the country. so they become stingy and selfish to try and get everything bad out about other people and hide there own dirt. so now the goverment isnt going to get better but worse.

THIS MEANS THAT THE GOVERNMENTS PURPOSE IS LOST BECAUSE OF THE SELFISHNESS THAT OCCURS BETWEEN CANDIDATES. I THINK THATS ITS A VERY TRUE STATEMENT BECAUSE YOU CAN SEE IT IN EVERYDAY LIFE ,WHEN YOU HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT AND THE PRESIDENTIAL THINGS EVERYONE IS ALWAYS FIGHTING AND STARTING PROBLEMS DEFENDING THEIR POINTS JUST TO PROVE THE OTHER WRONG AND I THINK THAT ISN'T RIGHT AND SHOULD BE TO WIN FAIR NOT TO MISJUDGE THE OTHER AND MAKE THE OTHER LOOK BAD. I BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE HAVE LOST THE PURPOSE FOR WHAT THE GOVERNMENT REALLY IS AND ITS KINDA FUNNY THAT THE ONLY PEOPLE MESSING UP THE NAME OF THE GOVERNMENT IS THEMSELVES.I THINK THE ONLY ONES RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE ACTIONS ARE THEMSELVES BECAUSE THE GIVE THEMSELVES THESE PROBLEMS FOR THE WAY THEY ACT THE LIES THEY TEL THE EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN WHICH WE DON'T GET INFORMED.

I think that the statement is true because politics do want to win everything they talk bad about other person just to win the election. They dont care about what people think they just want to win .They will say alot of lies but people will still belive them.So they will lie just to get peoples votes.Politics are like that i dont think they are going to change.I think politics are sometimes selfish because they dont care about other people they just care about themselves because they want to win.Politics will promise us things but they will never make them happen. We need a president that does care what other people think and make their promises happen.

i agree with this statement because this how now is the politics.now two of the candidates are fighting just to get into the presidents. so those that are going to vote you should think cause that candidate is going to take over america. think that the politics are to help the people. but to to just be fighting for a thing.

The goverment has change over the years. It was more of a trust goverment but now you cant really say what is the truth and a lie. People are use the presidental races to make there self cool try be the coolest nikka what but this dosent real matter who cool or who s not. This job is taking over america and this is a serious job and there running to be cool and thats not a valet reason to be the president and if your were real you shouldnt be worryed about being the coolest you should be worried about being the president and running this coountry.

I agree with with this quote. I think that a candidate would tell the voters what they want to hear. Just to get their vote, but later when it's time to work. They end up not doing what they had promised in the beginning. They just want to become popular from politics. After seeing so many candidates lie about what they are going to do just to get poeple's votes. Voters now don't know if they are lieing or telling the truth about what they are going to do. Candidates don't usually say what they are going to really do.
But they either lie about something. Or say why he is the person you need to run the country and not the opponent. They spend more time putting the other person running down then actually telling us what we need to hear. This is why I think this quote is true.

I agree with the quote because like I've been saying for all the other ones, their just bashing each other. Compared to how politics used to be, today's politics are ludacris. I THINK THAT PEOPLE CANT SEE THE TRUTH WHEN IT IS BEING SAID. WE THE PEOPLE ARE USED TO BEING LIED BY THE GOVERNMENT. THE PEOPLE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TRYING TO SUCCEED IN. I think that this quote is true because politicains just tell you want you want to hear. They mught promise you many things but out of all those things they only do one or two of them. Whoever takes the position of president has to have the responsibilities to take charge.

well i agree with this statement because constantly chnaginig our views on what is right these politics are constantly changing their opinions on what is right and we happen to agree with them, even though they are "wrong" but we believe them, thus making us all wrong.

-I think that this statement is true because everytime there is always someone who wants to take ur place, like the best score list, there will be someone who wants a better score just like politics, they want to beat the other team and the most popular politics are Obama, and Clinton. I think Obama will win because he is in second place and he can catch up to Clinton. BUT IT REALLY DOESN'T MATTER WHO WINS THEY WILL BE THE FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN OR FEMALE PRESIDENT!!!:]

the true value of politics has been lost in a maze of lies, false adds, and selfishness. our canidates for the people is now a just a compitishen to see who the people like the best. this takes the back seat to who is actually the best for our nation that will make the write descions. the future scares me because government is at a lost and if it worsens even now then i wonder if the united states will still be like how the nation invisions how we should be.

I think that i dont really get it.
You used too many big words to explain it, because you're too smart for me.

ooooooooooh
now that steven explain it sorta makes more sense.

i think that this is saying that the politics usually only try to make eachother look better than the other. i also think that this meant that they usually cant make up their mind on what they want the country to think. Because basically they are the people that inform the PEOPLE what is going on with the country. So many people beleieve or go with their information.[i think]

I think what the author is trying to say about politics being a procces and not a product is that there is no end to it. There is never a final solution. There is always something to work on. I think the author says that so many people haven't been comitted to keep their word that it is hard to find the truth in someone because everyone becomes selfish when they have power. Then they start to be concerned about themselves and forget about the things they were comitted to do.

This quote is true because politics has become corrupt. Instead or running for yourself and telling how you can help improve the country some people run and just bring the other candidates down in order to make themselves look better. Also, people in power take bribes and do stuff that favors the person who bribed the official.

I agree with this quote because this is what we think of politics. Mostly everything it's not. And politics is NOT a product but a progress i agree with that also. Politics has also very well become selfish. They don't really bother to look at the different issues that need to be tooken care of. Well they do when they're running, but once they win the race it's over and done.

i agree with this quote b/c politics have become politics are now like that. people are used to getting lied to. instead of the candidates trying to get the votes to run the country they're acting like it was a popularity contest. they keep stabbing each other in the back and arguing back and forth. they're debating as if they were gonna become president for a highschool but its for the u.s and that is a huge job.

Well i have one thing to say for this and it is "HUH"! Well i think it means that the people that run always say the same thing. they say all nice things and they make us feel special and they tell us great things will happen but what we don't realize is that they all say the same thing and in the end nothing happens. so like my companion Lizzie Gomez says that we can't tell a lie from the truth!

I think that this quote is true because politics used to be about voting for someone to run the country. But now it has become more of a fight than voting. People are not voting for someone that has the qualities to run a country. They are now voting for people that are more popular. And now the candidates are not running fairly. They are now fighting dirty and and using tricks and schemes in order to win. So i agree with this quote but i don't really understand this quote.

Because of government we have alot of isues within other nations and so on. thats not the way it should be. so yea politics are over rated.

I agree with this statement because we are constantly changing our views on what is right. These politics are constantly changing their opinions on what is right and we happen to agree with them, even though they are "wrong" but we believe them, thus making us all wrong.

Politics has valued its counterfeits so much that do not deal with the real concept. No one thinks about the major issues in our society but now with the two democrats running for presidency, that will all change. Everyone was focusing on the false that the truth has been obscured from reality. They cover up the cunning selfishness instead of making actual sincere service. They create lies to be able to do things they are not supposed to do nad persuade society to allow them to do so. With this, it makes the society worse and because of their lies, the society wouldn't get any better. With the democrats, society will rise to be one of the best in the world and become a better place. With this new rise of people, the nation will change forever.....

I think that these quote means that all people are kinda blind cause they trust everything the politics say. people need to recognize that they need to start paying more attention to what the politicians
say to them cause some of those things are not realistic and they cannot accomplish those goals. so people need to start analyzing the things that the politicians say.

i think that this means that politics are to busy arguing that they dont even realize that they are not being good leadres becuase instead of doing something good for the government they are busy making themselfs look bad by talking about about others and to me i dont think thats a good leader.

I DONT KNOW WUT THIS MEANS BUT I THINK IT MEANS THAT THEY HAVE BEEN LIED TO THE WHOLE TIME BY THE GOVERNMENT, THEY DONT KNOW WUTS THE TRUTH NOW. THEY ALWAYS SAY THEY ARE GOING TO DO THIS AND THEY END UP NOT DOING IT.

i agree with this quote because thats how politics are.I think what the author is trying to say about politics being a procces and not a product is that there is no end to it. i think that this person is trying to say that politics dont end but they can be mean. this person is trying to say that politics are arts because it takes time to finish what you are starting.

if this journal weren't true, we wouldn't have war between us people, because us the humans think selfish only thinking what is the better for us we don't think if is going to effect to another person, that's what they do politics "do anything to win or get what they want" if that means to say a lie, or fight with people. and it all comes with a vote that someone take control but it turned out to be a popularity contest with rivalry and back-stabbing just to win an election. I'm not against with voting because its what people choose what its better but these who are competing are thinking about themselves to be the better and that one is who will win.

i think that this quote is trying to say that you cant just start politics as if you are purchasing something, you have to build it. It all starts off with having your nations trust and then together as the people they decide who become their politics. Politics soon start to take advantage of their position and begin to make decisions that are good for them and their people and arent considerate of the nation and thats when politics begin to act selfish. That is my understanding of this quote.

politicians have focused so much on the bad that they have not been improving on the good. they do not seem to care about the people. they just care about them self. they have lied and lied and persuaded the people to let him do things that are unjust and unfair.

I think that this quote is true because government is not a finished result, or a product. Nevertheless, its not going to end just because someone is voted to the presidency. But it will still remain a work in progress. Since someone is elected, that means that they have even more work to do, and more work to create or design such as laws or new regulations. Government is an art. It has so many "curves", "designs", etc. And the politicians are the artists. As all of them have their own way of "designing" their works of art. They all have their different styles, their own way of going throughout their debates.

I don't really understand this. But I think its saying that politics care more about winning an election instead of caring what other people think =D

i think that politics has become something that it shoudn't be because all politicians do is lie to the people. and thats not what we need. we need somebody that will be real with us from the start. all they do is think about theirselves instead of what they're suppose to be focused on like running the country. they end up turnig out like bush, they never stop to think about how it effects our country if they were to do it.
