How can the holiday season be a time that causes more sadness than joy? Give an example of a time where you either observed or this happened to you.

the holiday season can cause more sadness than joy because if you have lost someone then you are always going to think of them and miss then during this jolly time of season. Youll see every other family happy except yours. Uhmm...last christmas was a bit sad 4 me 2 so yeah.
The holiday season is a time when people feel sad because maybe their love ones passed away or something. I think this happened to me last year. Everyone was sad because my grandmother died and everyone misses her. That is the only time this has happened to me I think.
I THINK THAT THE HOLIDAYS COULD ONLY BRING HAPPINESS TO EVERYONE. SADNESS I DONT THINK CAN BE FELT IN THE HOLIDAYS. UNLESS U DONT GET ANY PRESENTS. I ALSO THINK THAT THE HOLIDAYS ARE THE BEST THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN. THE FOOD AND THE PRESENTS.
I think that a holiday season can be sad because maybe a year before that, you have had some one that you loved and they passed away. And you'll remember the good times you had. And remembering the good times, will make you sad because you can't do those things any more. or it can also be sad because you don't get what you want.
well, a holiday can be sad instead of happy, a family member could of died on that day. i havent really had a sad holiday, except for valentine's day, i feel sad for all of the stupid people that buy stuff cuz they think they r in "love" as people call it, i personally think that love is something made by companies for them to make money on valentine's day.
The holiday season can cause more sadnesss than joy when you lose someone you love and then when the holidays come you really miss them because they are not there with the rest of the family. I dont think this has ever happened to me because I have never lost anyone in my family that was close to me, yet. For me, the holidays have always been fun.

Probably sadness because u have had a problem that happened in this holiday, and even though you want to forget about it you will always remember it. No i haven't seen any sadness in this type of holiday but thats what i think.
WELL IT CAN BE SAD BECAUSE RIGHT NOW MY OLDER BROTHER IS IN JAIL AND I HAVENT SEEN HIM IN A LONG TIME AND I CANT BE WITH HIM ON THANKS-GIVING,I WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO EITHER TRY TO VISIT HIM AT JAIL OR WAIT UNTIL DECEMBER TO SEE MY BROTHER AND I REALLY MISS HIM BECAUSE BEFORE HE WENT TO JAQIL ALOT OF THINGS HAVE HAPPENED TO HIM AND I HAVENT SEEN HIM IN A LONG TIME AND IT IS KINDA SAD AND THAT IS WHY SOMETIMES ALL OF THE HOLIDAYS ARE NOT HAPPY

Some people don't have families to go to. Sometimes people pass away and when it comes to holidays you wish that they will be with you. Homeless people don't have families to go to.

well this has happened to me because on chritmas i didnt get anythng i wanted all i got was some socks and t-shirts and i was mad and this year is going to be the first year my family doesnt get to celebrate christmas with my uncle
Well yes its true there sometimes could be sadness than joy in holidays because well somtimes you really want somebody to come to spend the holidays with you but they dont come but i cant really say anything because ive never had a bad hliday there always special...
A holiday season can be a time that causes more sadness than joy by somebody dying close to the holidays. Something also can go wrong that day. I went to Mexico for Christmas and it was just sad. My grandparents live in this ranch and like people are leaving to come to the U.S the place is becoming abadoned. On Christmas Eve we went up to the church and it was freezing. It was just horrible. After we left we watched the news and they said something was going to happen which causes everything to freeze up. So the next morning when I woke up all the plants were burned up becuase of the freezing tempature that had happened at night. Then on that day on Christmas it didn't feel like Christmas and we didn't do anything at all. On New Years eve it was the samething. The best day was when I left and I got on first class.
The Holiday season can cause sadness when some people don't get to eat Thanksgiving Dinner because they have no money or a home and for Christmas when little kids can't get gifts because there is no money. Things that make me fill bad is when I can not spend any Holiday of my life with people that have died. And most of the time it is people I nver got to meet but they were apart of my family.
well on the 4th of july everyone around me was happy and i was sad because i felt left out and so i stated in my mommas car the whole time until almost night time when it was time to pop fireworks and i had got chase by my friend with a big snake.

maybe if a family member died around this time but had always been with you it makes you feel very unhappy.
Some people don't have enough money to buy there kids some thing for christmas.
Some kids see other kids with toys and many things they got for christmas and they just stare and wish they can have the same.
The holiday season can be a time of sadness when a family member dies right in front of you, and you believe that that is all your fault. Every year at that holiday you will feel guilt. If the family member dies and it wasn't your fault, you could still have sadness, but you won't experience guilt. Less sad that way. This never happened to me so i can't give an example.
on thankgiving was the day my sister got murdered so every thankgiving we have a time where we sit and have a moment of silence to think about her. so yeah that when a holiday can be a time og more sadness then joy.
All my holidays been good i never had a sad holiday but it could be sad if your grandma or a relative die. It would be sad and depresing if one of your relative die close to a holiday.
A time when somebody can be more sad than happy is if that person doesnt recieve a present for christmas or sum oother holiday. Some people think Christmas is all about the presents and the decorations. Thats what little kids think that christmas is all about. I kno if i didnt get a present when i was a little kid, i would be booko mad..lol.

it can be both because if pretend if you have to open A HUGE BOX AND All you find is a old pair of sox than you will probably get mad.but if you have been wanting a new video game system and ypou get it then you will feel happy.
Well i think that it is not true.because a holiday is when you and your family celebrate thanksgiving together .to remember the good old days and to forget the past to see what is coming in the furture.
uhhhh i never observed this nor has this happened to me.but i think people who are sad and not happy are people who have no family to share the holiday with. or they're unfortunate and cant afford presents but sometimes people are just happy to have people to hold but in the worst-case scenerio some homeless people dont have people to share their holiday with and they are really sad.
it would probably be cuz umm cuz the person has problems in life and he or her is bitter...
Well to me holiday brings great joy.The only reason u can be sad ona a holiday is if there is a natural disaster or someone sick.It can also be sad on the holidays to see homeless people without food that really hurts but hey wat can you do

The holiday can be a season of sadness cuase sometimes family members can't be with their family cause they either have to work or something else.
the holiday season can be sad instead of joy because over the year well my family in mexico we dont see each other. so when we do see each other its sad because we miss out on our lives and our stay is only limited. well i miss out on my cousins lives i dont know them that well so its sad that i dont know my family as i want to know. then our stay is limited so we only stay for two weeks and in those weeks we need to catch up. the it is also sad because we see eachothers growing upn and our family realizes that life is change and going fast. so we need to seize the day before its gone.

Well one time for thanksgiving i was at my aunties house and it was sad. it was sad because my aunt had cancer and she was only laying in the sofa and that was sad because she couldn't enjoy the fun. but when i finish eating the thanksgiving feast i went to the family room with her and we talk. i will never forget this event! :(

I think that the holiday Season can cause more sadness than joy because maybe you are going through emotional issues. Maybe it's because you didn’t have the opportunity to spend time with your family. Or perhaps you didn’t get what you wanted. Last year this happened to me because, my friend left to Kansas and we were very close, I was also sad because I had accidentally done something to one of my friends and I felt very sad and awful for doing it. And I felt like I didn’t deserve anything for Christmas.
well yeah for some people but not me maybe because that person has no one to spend the holidays with and feels lonely,or maybe because one of their family members died.or either that persomis grumpy and hates partie....what kind of person hates parties?
Probably is more sad because when a person in your family past the way and a holiday comes you start to remember the last holiday that you spend with that person...sometime people can't let go the past... just like me....its sad because every holiday that past I remember my grandma....and some other people....

what i think of this journal is that yes sometimes it does happen because u ae with your family and evryone is together that is wat akes it pretty sad or it's that some family members died and they want to dedecate that day to them
THE HOLIDAYS USUALLY BRING LOTS OF JOY BUT UNFORTUNATELY NOT TO EVERYONE. THERES POOR PEOPLE WHO CAN'T CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAYS BECAUSE THEY COULD BARELY AFFORD A CHEESEBURGER. BUT FORTUNATELY THERE IS GREAT PEOPLE WHO COOK TURKEY AND LOTS OF STUFF FOR THE POOR AND TAKE SOME TIME OUT OF THEIR OWN TIME TO TAKE IT TO THEM SO THEY TOO CAN ENJOY A THANKSGIVING. ALSO THERE IS PEOPLE FACING ECONOMIC PROBLEMS AND ALL THEY WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS JUST TO HAVE A BIT OF MONEY. BUT SOMETIMES THE HOLIDAYS BRING SADNESS BECAUSE YOUR FAMILY MEMBER HAS PAST AWAY AND YOU REMEMBER THE HOLIDAYS YOU SPENT WITH THAT PERSON AND YOU REMEMBER WHAT THEY DID F0R YOU. AND SOMETIMES YOU HAVE FAMILY PROBLEMS YOUR UNCLES AND AUNTS DON'T GET ALONG. LIKE ONE TIME WHEN I WENT TO CHICAGO TO SPEND CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO MY UNCLE AND MY AUNT GOT IN A BIG FIGHT CUZ THEY REALLY HAVE NEVER GOTTEN ALONG. MY UNCLE WANTED MY CUZIN TO STAY IN HIS HOUSE AND MY AUNT DIDN'T WANT TO CUZ SHE KNEW MY CUZIN WOULD DRINK A LOT SO MY AUNT STARTED TO SCREAM AT MY UNCLE AND MY UNCLE SCREAMED AT HER AND EVERYBODY WAS MAD AND IT RUINED THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT.
To me, not really. The reason why is because in the holiday season i get the time to spend time with my family on a good day.

I think that those days make u remember for example when someone died and maybe yoour family does a big celebration with a special person but he/she dies you will always remember what happened and you will be sad thats what i think .
a holiday season can be a time that causes more sadness than joy sometimes. this might be because a loved one has died in that specific date and they remember that and instead of celebrating the holiday they cry and its sad. its also sad that you can't share with them in the holidays that you most want and all the fun stuff that you did together and shared. i have not experienced that yet because no one in my family had died i am very close to only people that i don't know. but for me the holidays are always happy and fun--times that i share with all my family .
It can turn into sadness because you might go to the homeless shelter and see all the helpless people in your city.You might see people that need help in their life and then you feel sad for them.An example is that one time on the holidays I got sick and it ruined the whole day.
I think that it brings sadness because family members might remember something sad that happened that day and make them sad because that person or something that made them happy isnt there.Like if your next door neighbor was the one that came over every thanksgiving and serve everyone and one holiday they donnt come...that would probably make you feel confused and make you sad because you wont know what to do!
i dont know how this got in my head .....ii guess christmas movies or something.....you know when someone dies before christmas or they die on christmas eve. and the people there watching them would feel sad and dont celebrate the holiday.......then when the year comes around again they remember what happened........

well being thank full is forgiving the person you feel tha deserves it, and spending time with your famaly over the best dinner you could ever ask for......and also its a time for you to cherish your famaly and all the time they sacrafised there time at work for you and your brothers or sisteres.
it can cause more saddness b/c if you lost someone b4 then it hurts not to have them there. You will miss them b/c you probally be with them when that time comes. It makes you start to remember. So thats why people be sad. It brings back alot of memories.
