This quote is true because people never follow a person who thinks negative of everything. If a leader thinks he can't do something, then why should his followers believe in him? A leader has to encourage himself until he succeeds, because no one else is going to do it for him. People don't want to follow someone who doesn't do anything. If the leader doesn't lead them in the right direction, he isn't a leader.

yes of course this is true i wuold not follow somebody that has no courage. that would be suicide. I think this quote is true because people don't want to follow a negative or fearful person.Like if Obama were to say I'm afraid of this or i don't trust myself well enough to that, then people wouldn't want to vote for him. A leader must believe in themselves and strive to be more than their own capacity because no one will be around to pick up the slack. People need and want a leader who can make a decision for them and have it be a good decision for every single person in that group, whether it be a group in a classroom or an entire nation.
